When my mom went out to feed she heard a sheep making a noise and mom looked around the hay trailer and saw Alaina with a little . . . .Oh wait, I mean big ram lamb next to her! The lambs dam is a 3/4th Tunis ewe, Alaina and his sire is a registered Tunis ram, Dudley.

New lamb born Thursday!!
Well, Thursday, July 28th, 2011 we had a beautiful little ewe lamb born. Early Thursday morning mom looked out in the front yard where we keep pregnant goats and sheep and our bottle babies (we call it the nursery! HAHA), she saw that Spot had a lamb on the ground. Mom came and woke me up and told me that Spot had a little lamb . . . .I got up and went out there, and sure enough, Spot had a BEAUTIFUL chocolate and white colored ewe lamb next to her. Both her sire and dam are Katahdins. Her dam is Spot, she is not registered but is %100 Katahdin. The lambs sire is a registered Katahdin ram, named Louie

New Arrivals
Well, its been a little while since I posted last. So, I'm just doing a quick post for now. We just got back home a few hours ago or so with a lot of birds and 3 NEW Jacob sheep! They are really nice and big. Two of them are ewes and one is a wether. The wether has two horns, his name is Little Bit. One of the ewes has three horns, her name is Sophia. And the other ewe has four horns, her name is Izzy. They are all VERY nice. I plan on shearing them in the next week or so.
Here are some pictures of them ~

New Sheep Shearing Scissors
After watching my daughter spend hours shearing a few of the Finn lambs we have with several dull pairs of scissors, I ordered a new pair of sheep shears. Here are pics of the first time she used them:

Lion ewe lambed! ~ February 6th, 2011!
Well, I am trying to catch up on all the lambings we have had over the past several months. Lion ewe (as we call her, because she looked like a lion when we first got her), is a VERY nice and big Desert Sand ewe we have. She lambed to a VERY BIG single chocolate and white ewe lamb on February 6th, 2011. From what I remember, I noticed that she was in labor earlier that day, so I had been checking on her on and off for a little while. She was in a stall out back off the house. I was doing something and then somebody checked on her and said that there was a bubble. So, I went in the stall with her. She had her fine with no complications, I didn't have to pull it. The dam is a BIG Desert Sand ewe (Lion ewe) and the sire is a HUGE 40" horned Texas Dall ram. We are planning on keeping the eweling for a breeder, and we call her Jersey, because she looked like a little Jersey when she was born.

Zawiya lambed ~ February 3rd, 2011!
I am VERY late at posting this, because we have been VERY busy on the ranch. Zawiya lambed to a single ramling on a Thursday, February 3rd, 2011. We found her out in the snow with a HUGE thick string of mucous. So, we brought her back and put her in a stall. We watched her for a little bit, while she was having contractions. After a little while we realized that the lamb was stuck. So, we went into the stall with her and while some of us held the ewe my mom pulled the lamb out. It was a HUGE white ramling!! His dam is a 2-horned Jacob ewe (Zawiya) of ours and his sire is a HUGE 40" horned Texas Dall.
