Alaina Lambed!! ~ March 9, 2013

Saturday, March 9th, 2013 ~ At about 5:00pm Alaina lambed to BEAUTIFUL twin ewe lambs!! They both are a very nice size for twins. 1 is a deep red/chocolate and the other is a medium deep red with some white on her! I was shock that she had twins and that they are BOTH ewe lambs!! She usually has a 13 pound single ram lamb :) But, not this time I guess! We plan to keep at least 1 of her girls if not both . . . we'll see how they grow.

The dam to the lambs is Alaina, our Tunis ewe and the sire is Martinez, a registered Katahdin ram we use to own.

Coco Lambed!! ~ February 6, 2013

What a crazy/busy life I live! Wednesday afternoon, February 6th, 2013 I went on a run with my mom and sisters and when I got back I found Coco having a lamb. The lamb was pretty stuck, so mom had to pull it out. She had a beautiful single ewe lamb! The lamb is white with some chocolate on her nose.

We moved the new lamb and mother to a jug in the barn . . .the lamb nursed and both mother and daughter were doing fine.

At around 3:00am early Friday (2-8-13) morning we got up to check on the pregnant animals in the barn and found 1 ewe had lamb and a couple goats kidded. Then, as I was going back in the house I decided to just peek at Coco . . . I tried to stand her up and she wouldn't stand (she eventually stood up by herself, but was VERY weak). I noticed that the lamb was also pretty hungry (like she hadn't nursed for a little while), so I gave the lamb 8 oz of milk in a bottle (she drank it down fast) and gave Coco (the ewe) 30mls of M.F.O and then we went back to bed for a few hours . . . but, sad to say, my mom got up and she found Coco dead, with her lamb curled up next to her (the lamb is very sad) :( Coco was a very sweet sheep. She was one of my favorite ewes (very calm and sweet) :( The little ewe lamb is now a bottle lamb. Job 1:21 - " ......The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.”

The dam to the lamb is Coco, a chocolate and white ticked Katahdin ewe we used to own and the sire is a white Katahdin ram . . .Coco was bred before we bought her.

The lamb's name is Coco Chip!
