Lamb Update!!

Well, since we have been SOO busy lately I am doing a quick post. We have had 9 ewes lamb since February 1st until now. And out of 9 ewes we had 11 lambs born and one of the lambs died, so 10 are alive now. Here are some pictures and a little bit of info. I will try to tell more about what went on later.

Here is everyone who lamb so far~

Black Mesa lambed!!

Well, I am a month late on posting this, but I have been delivering lambs, delivering kids, feeding animals (goats, sheep, dogs and rabbits), dilling with frozen waters (goat waters, sheep waters and rabbit water bottles), trying to keep everyone warm, so that they don't freeze, bottling my little lamb and keeping her occupied, milking the goats . . . . . . . . .etc.

Little Hills Black Mesa (one of our Painted Desert ewes) lambed Tuesday, February 1st, 2011. We saw her having contractions out in the blizzerd. So we brought her back in the stall. After a few HARD contractions, there was two feet and the tip of the nose. We waited a little bit and let her try to push it out, but she was not able to get him out. So we went into the pen, me and one of my sisters held the ewe while mom pulled the lamb out. Mom had to pull pretty hard before she was able to get him out. She had a HUGE black and white single ramling. But, sad to say three days later we lost the little ram lamb to hypothermia:( If you want to read more about what went on, you can go here - http://deathontheranch.blogspot.com/2011/02/black-ramling-2-4-2011.html .

Here are some pictures of him ~

Here is the ramling with his dam.

Here is a picture of the ram lambs dam (Little Hills Black Mesa).

The sire to the ram lamb was a big Texas Dall ram with 40" horns on him.

Have a good week!!
